Artist Bio: De Anne Lamirande
Airways Airbrushing
De Anne started painting at a very young age. In her home there is an oil painting of Black Beauty painted when she was only seven. As a child she would go to work with her Mom on PA days at 'Bell Canada' Graphics Department, there she learned how to use a leroy pen, tech pens and her natural abilities started to shine.

At age of nine a drawing she drew of Snoopy was denied permission to be used for a fund raising campaign by her Mom for Leukemia “Come fly with me” buttons by United Artists.

In 1986 De Anne started her first business, and was half owner of 'Downtown Rehearsals Studios' on Yonge Street. There was where she painted her first wall lettering job. She enjoyed it so much that she applied for a job at a local sign shop. She did not get the job, but was told to go to George Brown to learn more about signs, and in Sept. 1989 she enrolled in ‘Graphic Sign Design and Production’, a two year program. Earlier that year she took a night course in airbrushed Illustration, there she learn shading and other important airbrush techniques. In September of 1992 she took another course at the TO School of Airbrushing with four other sign graphics classmates. There she learned how to paint t-shirts, leather and from there she was hooked! She received an airbrush job for a Christmas location from a referral from the school just a month after finishing the course. Later she worked with two other small kiosks, all the while with opening her own location in mind.

De Anne has worked for the likes of Keith Richards and Mariah Carey, ‘Warner Brothers’, ‘Premier Beer Company’, ‘Jack Daniel’s’ plus television and film work, as well as countless jobs for businesses and art enthusiasts.

Her art has been seen at ‘Canadian Music Week’ 2000 & 2001, ‘Molson Indy’ Toronto & Vancouver 2000, numerous trade shows, and she was a member of  ‘The Masterpiece Gallery’ in 2003. That same year she was one of 203 artist in a juried Art Show, complete with a red carpet, valet parking and oyster bar. She is one of only six women out of 85 artists in an online gallery www.smokinart.com and is one of only a few women in her trade. De Anne as attended ‘The International Motorcycle Show’ almost every year since 2003 as a featured guest, exhibiting her art and doing airbrush demonstrations.  Also Featured at the ‘Everything to do with Sex Show’ 2005, and ‘Metal Fest’ 2006. The first show ever attended was the ‘The International Pow Wow’ in 1995 and ‘The Ride for Sight’ in 1996.

Artist's statement:

I feel privileged to be an artist and the trust my clients put in my skills. Over the years I have the desire to always learn, expand my skills and educate others of the possibilities through the airbrush and other mediums in which I work in.

I enjoy painting nature the most and I have a series of paintings I would like to do to promote a better life on our beautiful planet. May I always have animal reference to paint from, and know that it is protected and free to roam in it’s natural habitat.

Diversity is what keeps me going and I enjoying not being stuck in one area of the arts, painting animals to cars and renaissance to erotica. I would
love to create a one of a kind piece for you, and give yourself or loved one the gift of art.

"Inspiration is not man made. It is a gift from nature. When it comes it creates something original and beautiful."
